Monique Skidmore: I might be biased, but Cyprus is an excellent destination, I think all year round. Of course, it depends on what kind of holiday you’re looking for. So let’s explore some of the most popular reasons that people choose to go to Cyprus.

I have to admit that I first went to Cyprus when I Googled, ‘What is the hottest Greek island in October?’ Now, Cyprus is not a Greek island, it’s Cypriot, but it has a very strong and dominant Greek culture.

And so Google counted it as a Greek island. And one of the main reasons that Cyprus is such an important destination in the second half of the year, and it actually in what we’d call the shoulder seasons, is because of its hot weather and its warm lingering weather all the way from May to the end of October.

Of course, the scorching temperatures that tourists love to hit the beach with are July and August.

Ayia Napa, in particular, is famous for its gorgeous beaches, its soft sand, its outrageous nightlife, its beach bars, and the natural beauty of Cape Greco National Park. I also love its underwater sculpture park.

But if you’re looking to get away from crowds, then the off-season from November to April has milder temperatures, but the flights drop in price, the hotel prices halve, and you’ve got historical sites almost to yourself.

And due to Cyprus’s Mediterranean climate, the weather is still pleasant. Temperatures range from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius or 36 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit.

It’s a fantastic time to explore Cyprus’s landmarks, attractions, and beaches without feeling overwhelmed by the masses.

In Cyprus, you’ll notice that the spring months feature lots of festivals and ritual events. Easter is a huge celebration. Orthodox Easter is, of course, a lot longer than just a day. It’s a series of ritual days and celebrations such as Carnival, Clean Monday, Holy Week, and the wonderful Cypriot Festival of Cataclysmos. And it’s usually celebrated at the beginning of June.

If you’re looking to celebrate religious and cultural traditions, March to June is also a good time.

I want to talk about winter because you might think that winter doesn’t offer too much in Cyprus, but how many places can you go skiing in the morning and to the beach in the afternoon?

You’ll be surprised by the island’s stunning wintery landscapes, the beautiful Christmas decorations in its Christmas villages, and all of the winter activities you can get up to. Cyprus is characterized by its mild winters; the average daytime temperature is around 17 degrees Celsius or 63 degrees Fahrenheit. At night, the average temperature is eight degrees Celsius or 46 degrees Fahrenheit.

So if you’re looking for winter activities like skiing and snowboarding, the highest mountains are the Trudos Mountains, and there’s plenty of snow that you can experience through its popular ski resort, the Cypress Ski Club. So Cyprus winter can be both a sunny day at the beach and a day in the snow.

But as winter fades away, Cyprus comes to life with blossoms, bright pink and purple blossoms. The temperatures increased significantly. The high average temperatures become 18 degrees to 28 degrees Celsius or 64 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

Spring is also a lovely time to be out in the villages and the outdoor markets. Cyprus has dozens of events over the spring months, whether it’s traditional foods or local festivals.

And everywhere you go, there are glorious wildflowers. But I’ll come back to where I started, which is the Cyprus summer, the best season for sun seekers with its Mediterranean climate expected dry and sometimes a very hot summer.

The average temperature is 35 degrees Celsius, which is 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The average lower temperatures are between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius or 77 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

But temperatures can often and regularly do exceed 40 degrees Celsius or 104 degrees Fahrenheit. For example, a recent heat wave in Cyprus in June was 44.3 degrees Celsius.

But even if you don’t love just the scorching heat, there are so many wonderful beaches, like Nissi Beach and Fig Tree Bay, and many, many water parks for families. It’s a wonderful place for summer.

I hope that’s given you a sense of some of the different activities you can get up to across the year and to think about extending your trip from April all the way to October, at least in Cyprus.

And if you do love to ski as well, I’ve seen people skiing in December, but I’ve also seen them swimming in Paphos in December. There’s a lot to say for Cyprus as a year-round destination.
